Fishing School
Our fly fishing schools were designed by Harry Murray and are taught by Murray's Fly Shop certified instructors following Harry's signature On-The-Stream School format. We emphasize the fun of fly fishing while maintaining a level of instruction suitable for the participants in a safe and friendly environment.

From beginner to expert, our instructors will tailor the instruction to your level of experience. Beginners will be introduced to the sport of fly fishing starting with a look at fly fishing tackle. Students will participate in a discussion of fly rods, reels, lines. leaders, fishing flies and knot tying. Casting instruction takes place on our casting lawn and stream utilizing the method developed by Larry Kenny, former owner of the Scott Fly Rod Company. Once you are comfortable with the "nuts and bolts" of fly fishing, our efforts will turn to the stream. The On -The-Stream aspect is an integral part of our fly fishing schools and is taught on our exclusive stretch of Stony Creek, only a two minute walk from the Ski School. On the stream you will learn: approaching and reading the water, fly selection and presentation, hook setting, fish fighting tactics and proper handling and release techniques.
For more advanced students, our instructors will cover what you want to learn - from the double haul to entomology.
- Schools are available for individuals or families.
- The minimum age is 10 with an adult, or 16 without an adult present.
- Class size is limited to four to ensure the greatest learning experience.
- Meet your instructor at the Bryce Resort Ski School located at the base of the ski slopes.
- Wear comfortable attire that can get a little dirty. Please no sandals, flip flops or crocs.
