Nature Trails

Want to get some exercise and commune with nature?  Visit two trails near Lake Laura.

Lake Laura Trail

The Lake Laura Trail is beautiful any time of year and takes one-and-a-half to two hours with children as young as four years.  It is a moderately easy hike (but not handicap accessible) and you can start from the Lake Laura Beach Area, the parking lot at the base of the dam, or the boat launch parking lot on the southern end of the lake.  Please stay on the trail so as not to disturb local residents and wildlife. Don't forget your camera!

Nature Trail

This public park area is adjacent to Stoney Creek between Arnold Road and the Public Pool which is located on The Hill Road.  Many species of wild life have been spotted here and Nancy Meyers, Hiking Committee Chairperson, along with a local girl scout troop put out signs identifying various plant life along the trail.  It is a very easy walk and suitable for young children. From the parking lot at the base of the Lake Laura dam, walk back along Arnold road towards Orkney Grade, and you will see the trail on your left between Arnold Road and Stoney Creek.  From the Public Pool parking lot, walk down the hill and across the playground area towards the dam.  There is a foot bridge allowing you to cross over Stoney Creek. Once across, follow the creek back towards Orkney Grade and you will see the Nature Trail straight ahead.
